Ever so slight… but definitely for the better!

It’s been a swinging good eight months for all of us. As always, the praise and respect goes to our committed bunch, the MeshRadio family. Big love fellas!

After much thought and consideration, we’ve decided to take a hiatus on our live streaming shows for the weekends. Instead we’ll update the archive every weekend. So all you have to do is click on the respective show’s tab and hit up on your favourite featured show.

It sure does fellow MeshRadio heads! Our newly formed TNL mainstays, Josh and Kenneth, are no strangers to you by now. This creatively ambitious duo double-up duties on Fixation this Sunday, proving to be one of the favorite “internet emcees”. Along the Fixation trail, we welcome back the mad Frenchman, J.B, for another flood of personality-free electronic house musique. On a slightly dark and deeper note, we’ve got giant residents from Stereolab, Brendan P and Godwin P. The two Ps deliver enough grit to make you feel uncontrolled energy lurching about like a beast untethered. Fear not, they are very nice fellas in person. 

It makes sense that KidG and Michael Dustdevil have tastes that encompass Jesus and Mary Chain and Tori Amos. The gathering of indie rock and old-fashioned melancholy on Taste is introspective. Dustdevil’s band member Michael somehow ensures that all elements fit into a mixtape. Thanks mate!

Though their name suggest otherwise, Hot-4-U is not a mandingo group, but a trio of steady guys from our ‘hood. The confusion is understandable, cos of the playfulness of their voice and the sexiness of their selection. Always fun and ultra cool, Uly marries the familiar with the futuristic, crafting socially lubricating party vibes. Once again, its Mugic style on MeshRadio. And Aresha of Various Assets teams up with our trusted bassnicks, Presha and Submerge, for a hi-octane, funk-driven Swing, centered on Drum n Bass and Dubstep. Swingers rejoice!

And lastly, we would like to present to you a brand nu show called BEATROOT. Showcasing their interest in worldly rhythms and jazzy hooks, Raeburn and Ramesh expand your mind along the lines of Afro-beatness, Latin jams, eastern-influenced riddims to traditional rural hymns. If you’re looking for a microscopic inspection of one narrow genre, head elsewhere…

Truly we are nice people, not the ones who’ll start a bush fire or set ablaze a nu rave joint! Hmmm… maybe a nu rave joint… JUST KIDDING YO!!!

Thanks to the folks at Home Club and Bacardi, who looked us up and said “Why not a party?” We said we are not into the late night partying, but they told us that we will be like “hot stuff”, famous with the girls, cut queues for clubs and lotsa other perks. Before we knew it ARSON came about! On Aug 8, our boys from MeshRadio are having a night out, full of pure petroleum beats, featuring KidG, Hook, Kavan, Josh P, Kenneth F and Home Club resident Loopinmotion. The musical mavericks will be blurring genres with vibes from a starlit terrace to a dirty basement feel. You get the drift? Fall in fellow comrades!

We bid farewell to a strange but familiar man, beautiful to our ears…the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Thank you for your sweet soul sound, keeping us entertained and to be remembered for generations to come. RIP! Funkidread has put together a special tribute this Friday on Fudge.

It’s business as usual this week with our headstrong musical ninjas keeping you safe and in pace. Also. a big thank you goes out to Bloodunza, Hong Kong’s drum n bass premier, for sharing a thing or two on some bass-sic business. Next up is the master of his craft, tiny Titus. We tracked him down and dragged him in for a long overdue show on Fudge. Listen up this Sunday.

There’s a huge cause for celebration this week cos it’s Uncle Ernie’s birthday (our trusted, looking-good, committed, DESIRABLE BACHELOR, milk-loving engineer, who is also the heart n soul of MeshRadio). Weathered, but not worn down by life’s ups and downs, this week shows are once again gracious and gregarious on an otherwise overcast day.

Alongside Godwin and Ramesh on Fixation, we see the return of minimal techno megatron, Arc and Peter Jay from NYC on mixtape duties. Welcome back the lovebirds Debbie and Kavan, fresh from Berlin with lots of fresh tasty beats served with sauerkraut. Now, for a classic Kenneth F and Joshua P’s Thursday Night Live “Did You Know” moment…

Sauerkraut is finely shredded cabbage that has been fermented by various lactic acid bacteria. It has a long shelf-life and a distinctive sour flavor, both of which result from the lactic acid that forms when the bacteria ferment the sugars in the cabbage. It is therefore not to be confused with coleslaw, which receives its acidic taste from vinegar. The word comes directly from the German language, which literally translates to sour cabbage.

Continuing the lineage of discovering unknown gems and forgotten classics, two of our funkiest friends, Funk Bastard and Funkidread entertain us on Swing with a killa mixtape by NZ’s Dan Aikido. Kiaora Mate! Mash up extraordinaire Akira makes his first appearance on MeshRadio this Sunday, with phat B-lines and rich synths. Not to be slept on.
